What is a Small Group?
It is a gathering of 6-10 people who meet regularly to connect with others and grow in faith together. Often, a small group is composed of particular demographics (below are examples but not limited to this list):
Men or women
Widows
Young adults
Single parents
Young couples (engaged or married)
Grief support
Young parents
How often do they meet?
Some groups meet weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. This could be done in blocks. Maybe there’s a book study for a couple of months, then a break before meeting again. Other groups may want to read and pray with the upcoming Sunday readings in a seasonal way. The group will decide the content and the pace of meeting.
What do I do if I want to start a small group?
Contact Sean Calvin, Director of Discipleship Formation at 734-818-3005 or [email protected]. There will be a facilitator meeting/training on April 7 from 6-7 pm at the St. Joseph Parish Center (across from the Church on the same side of the street).
If you’re interested in facilitating a small group, you will receive a facilitator manual that can be adapted to any small group circumstance.
